Anna Berlin: Notes from Berlin
Anna Berlin: Notes from Berlin
Notes from Berlin is an artist’s book that is part memoir, part travelogue, and part family history. It was made in 2021 during Anna’s time in Berlin, Germany on a Fulbright Research & Study Scholarship.
The book weaves experiences of the personal and the subjective with the bureaucratic -- integrating her own paintings, drawings, and photographs, with transcriptions of recorded conversations among members of her family. The outcome is a sentimental and humorous tapestry of Berlin finding her way through the city she shares her name with; and an homage to artistic practice and how one can think through their relationship to storytelling, memory, and place.
Notes from Berlin is printed in an edition of 100 and available to purchase through Olympia’s website or in-person at the gallery.
Anna and Olympia would like to extend special thanks to Jessina Leonard, Conveyor Studios, Boston University, Boston Painting & Faculty, Fulbright Germany, Prof. Heike-Karin Föll & Klasse Föll.
