Please join us May 13th-14th for SUB, an experimental concert by Not Yet Titled (Alex Schmidt, Karewith Casas, and Anthony Torrano). SUB is written, directed, and performed by Alex Schmidt with instrumentals by Karewith Casas and Anthony Torrano.
Alex Schmidt has held solo exhibitions at Leslie-Lohman Museum, Rachel Comey, and 21st Street Projects for Critical Practices. They have performed at MoMA PS1, the Kitchen, the New Museum, and PERFORMA 2019, among others. Schmidt has hosted Embodiment Sessions since 2020. Their work has been featured in the New Yorker, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Dazed Magazine, PAPER, New York Magazine, and The Guardian. Schmidt holds an MFA from Hunter College (2023) as a Ruth Stanton Scholar (2020-2023) and a BA in Art History from Reed College (2009).
Karewith Casas is a first generation Chicano artist from Northern California currently living and working in NYC. Karewith received his BA from the Art Studio Program at the University of California, Davis (2020) and was awarded the Freemon Gadberry Award in Art. He is currently an MFA candidate at Hunter College. Addressing the contemplative nature of human existence is an undergirding ethos of his work.
Anthony Torrano (b. San Francisco, 1992) is an artist based in New York City. He is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he received his BA in Art with a focus in painting and printmaking and a current MFA candidate at Hunter College in New York. Anthony was a recipient of the 2015 Susan Benton Irwin Scholarship at UCSC, a 2021 Artists Corps Grant recipient from the New York Foundation of the Arts, and a 2022 Frederieke Sanders Taylor Studio Fund Grant. He has exhibited in the San Francisco Bay Area, and in New York at SWIM Gallery, ProArts, Incline Gallery, Adobe Books, and Room284.
